Meta Unveils Oakley Meta Vanguard Smart Glasses for Athletes
Meta Launches Oakley Meta Vanguard Smart Glasses for Athletes

At Meta Connect 2025, Meta unveiled its latest Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses, designed specifically for runners, cyclists, and other athletes. Priced at $499, the glasses will be available starting October 21, 2025.
The launch builds on Meta’s ongoing push into wearable technology for fitness enthusiasts, following its Oakley Meta HSTN release earlier this year.
Key Features of Oakley Meta Vanguard
The Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses come with multiple upgrades tailored for active users:
- Unified Front Lens & High-Resolution Camera: 12MP camera with 3K video and a 122-degree wide-angle lens for clear, immersive recordings.
- Programmable Button & AI Integration: Custom AI prompts can be triggered using the Meta AI app, with buttons located underneath the frames for helmet-friendly use.
- Battery Life: Up to 9 hours of usage or 6 hours of continuous music playback, plus a charging case providing an additional 36 hours. Quick charge reaches 50% in 20 minutes.
- Audio & Microphone: Open-ear speakers deliver 6 decibels louder sound than previous models. Five-microphone array reduces wind noise for calls, messaging, and AI voice commands.
- Durability & Lens Technology: IP67 dust and water resistance, wraparound design, and Oakley PRIZMTM Lens technology to block sun, wind, and dust.
Fitness & Smartwatch Integration
Athletes can link the glasses with Garmin smartwatches to track heart rate, pace, and other performance stats in real-time. Integration with Strava allows overlaying metrics on photos and videos for direct sharing with the community.
Frame & Lens Options
Oakley Meta Vanguard comes in four styles:
- Black frame with PRIZMTM 24K
- White frame with PRIZMTM Black
- Black frame with PRIZMTM Road
- White frame with PRIZMTM Sapphire
The initial release includes United States, Canada, U.K., Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Australia, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, with plans for Mexico, India, Brazil, and UAE later in 2025.
