Apple AirPods Pro 3 Add Heart Rate & Fitness Tracking
Apple has officially unveiled the AirPods Pro 3, adding major health and productivity upgrades that transform them from simple earbuds into smarter fitness companions.
Heart Rate Tracking with Built-in Sensors

The $249 AirPods Pro 3 now feature a custom PPG (photoplethysmography) sensor that shines infrared light 256 times per second to measure blood flow. This enables accurate heart rate monitoring, visible directly in the Apple Fitness app.
The data is processed by on-device AI models, ensuring precise readings without compromising privacy. This means you can track your heart rate during workouts or even at rest, just by wearing your earbuds.
Fitness Features: 50 Workouts + Workout Buddy
Beyond heart rate, AirPods Pro 3 can track 50 different workouts thanks to built-in accelerometers, gyroscope, and GPS. Apple is also debuting Workout Buddy, an Apple Intelligence-powered coach that motivates users and provides real-time feedback during exercise.
Smarter Everyday Use with Live Translation

Apple has also added live translation to the AirPods Pro 3, supporting English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish at launch. More languages, including Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese, are expected later this year.
This makes the new AirPods useful not just for fitness, but also for travel, business, and cross-language communication.
Sound Quality and Battery Upgrades
AirPods Pro 3 deliver 2x better active noise cancellation (ANC) than AirPods Pro 2, and 4x better than the original Pro model. Apple has also improved comfort with a refined fit and boosted battery life to 8 hours with ANC (10 hours in transparency mode).
Price and Availability
Despite all these upgrades, the AirPods Pro 3 retail at $249, the same as their predecessor. With fitness, translation, and sound upgrades, they’re shaping up to be Apple’s most versatile earbuds yet.
