Made by Google: How to watch the Pixel 10 launch

Google Photos Adds AI “Edit by Asking” on Pixel 10

At Wednesday’s Made by Google 2025 event, Google unveiled a major update to Google Photos: you can now literally talk to your photos to edit them. The new feature, called “Edit by Asking,” allows Pixel 10 users in the U.S. to describe edits they want — either by voice or text — and let AI do the rest.

✨ How It Works

Powered by Gemini AI, Google Photos now understands natural language prompts. That means you can type or say things like:

  • “Remove the cars in the background.”
  • “Restore this old photo.”
  • “Make it brighter.”
  • Or even just “Make it better.”

From there, Photos automatically applies intelligent edits such as lighting fixes, distraction removal, or full creative transformations — including swapping backgrounds or even adding fun items like sunglasses and party hats.

Even better, the feature supports follow-up requests, so you can refine your image until it looks perfect.

????️ C2PA Content Credentials

In addition to editing upgrades, Google announced C2PA Content Credentials support in Photos and the Pixel 10 Camera app. This ensures transparency about whether AI was used in making or modifying an image.

All photos taken with the Pixel 10 will include this metadata, building trust around digital content authenticity.

???? Rollout

  • Available now on Pixel 10 devices in the U.S.
  • Expanding soon to Google Photos on iOS and Android worldwide.

???? Why It Matters

This update lowers the barrier for powerful photo editing. Instead of navigating complex tools, anyone can just ask Photos to enhance or transform an image. Combined with C2PA verification, Google is not only making AI editing more accessible but also more transparent.
