🟨 Yellow – California NBA Teams

  • CLIPPERS
  • KINGS
  • LAKERS
  • WARRIORS

All NBA teams based in California. This one was pretty straightforward.

🟩 Green – In a “SportsCenter” Broadcast

  • ANCHOR
  • CHYRON
  • HIGHLIGHTS
  • TICKER

If you’ve ever watched ESPN, you’ve seen all of these.

🟦 Blue – Coached by Jim Harbaugh

  • 49ERS
  • CHARGERS
  • MICHIGAN
  • STANFORD

Jim Harbaugh has coached all four. NFL and college fans probably got this fast.

🟪 Purple – Homophones of Cy Young Award Winners

  • BURNS
  • COAL
  • COLOGNE
  • SAIL

This was the tough one.

Each word sounds like a past Cy Young winner:

  • Corbin Burnes
  • Gerrit Cole
  • Bartolo Colón
  • Chris Sale

You had to think about sound, not spelling.

Very tricky.

Why Today’s Puzzle Was Hard

  • Purple needed baseball knowledge.
  • You had to hear the names, not just read them.
  • Some words looked random at first.

If purple was your last group, you were not alone.

Quick Tip

When a group feels strange, try saying the words out loud.
Connections loves sound tricks.
